Inaugurates Elekta’s Versa HD Radiotherapy Team, First in Latin America.

With an investment of 20 million dollars, the Doctors Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center incorporates the best technology for Cancer diagnosis and Treatment.

On October 12, 2019, the Comprehensive Cancer Center of DOCTORS HOSPITAL began its operations with the inauguration of the Radiotherapy Department. For this, the Elekta Versa HD was acquired, being the first equipment installed in Latin America.

The Center also has a PET-CT Biograph mCT from Siemens, the Philips 1.5 Tesla Intera Magnetic Resonance, the Philips 64-slice TAC Brilliance and soon, an Eclipse HP Cyclotron for the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals.

On this last point, it is worth noting the support of more than 13 years of experience in this field of medicine where the doctors and scientists of the institution have achieved the development of more than 30 radionuclides for the diagnosis of different diseases, ranking in the TOP 10 World Cup of this specialty.

Versa HD by Elekta is the most modern radiotherapy at present and is considered a state of the art of its kind. It has been designed to provide unprecedented precision and speed in Radiotherapy and Advanced Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Thanks to the speed of its Multi-leaf System, which is up to 10 times faster than conventional systems, it is possible to impart high doses of radiation, always taking care of healthy organs and tissues and reducing the treatment time from 30 to 10 minutes. In this way, it is possible to considerably reduce the number of sessions to achieve the objectives. Furthermore, with the 4D modality, it is feasible to visualize the tumor in real time while it is being irradiated, with which any change in shape can be immediately addressed and corrected. With these important advantages, the oncologist will be able to optimize each individual treatment like never before.

Among the more than 150 guests at the event was the presence of Dr. Manuel de la O Cavazos, Secretary of Health, Dr. Genaro Levinson, Director General of OCA and DOCTORS HOSPITAL, Mr. Olof Hällerman, Director of the Commercial Office and of Investment of the Swedish Embassy, Eng. Dan Levinson, General Director of DOCTORS HOSPITAL and Eng. Javier Pastor, Commercial Director of Elekta.

Dr. Manuel de la O, guest of honor at this event, highlighted the medical advances that exist in Nuevo León in the fight against cancer.
For his part, Olof Hällerman highlighted the scientific innovation process that exists in the Swedish medical industry and that allows the development of cutting-edge technologies such as Elekta’s VESTA HD Accelerator.

To end the event, Dr. Álvaro Martínez, recognized international authority in the specialty of Oncology, offered a Conference in the Auditorium of Doctors Hospital with the title: “Positive Impact of the new Elekta HD Versa HD Technology that will have in the future of cancer patients ”, attended by more than 300 people.
